How I celebrated my day

I actually spent most of the day by myself since Bryan's job is working him 50+ hours a week. I slept in as long as I wanted to :) When I got up I decided to go to the craft store and create something I found on Pinterest. So I bought some acrylic paint at Hobby Lobby and an old picture frame Goodwill ($2). I took them home and spent most of my afternoon working on my craft. It turned out nicely. It seemed difficult to paint the ornaments and I later learned that I should have modge podged paper strips to the ornaments first (which makes sense) I thought it was more difficult than it should have been to paint them. All and all it turned out cute. It's more difficult to paint and do detail work now with prograf tremors in my hands. I will probably re-do the ornaments on another day when I am feeling motivated to do so :) This is the final product~
When Bryan got home from work he insisted we go out to dinner (I could have stayed home, but he wanted to take me out) He took me to Johnny Corino's since Italian food one of my FAVS. I had Spicy Shrimp and Chicken. . .I ate too much as usual. I actually weigh 105 lbs which is more than I have ever weighed in my life!! It must be all the pasta I've been eating lately. LOL.

So I enjoyed my day. I got to get my craft on, make a mess and be creative which is something I just don't enough of lately.

I really, really love Christmas~ I love the feeling and the atmosphere. Ironically I have not spent a Christmas home with our families for the 4 years I have celebrated with my new lungs. In 2007 I was in Pittsburgh recovering from my transplant. In 2008 we had just moved to Phoenix so Bryan could start school the first of December. 2009 we were still in Phoenix. . .2010 we had just moved from Phoenix to Oklahoma so Bryan could start his new job with the Harley Davidson shop here in Norman. And this year. . .2011. . .we thought we would try to make the trip home for Christmas however, with Bryan’s job winters are apparently going to be tough. So as much as I would love to visit family, it’s just not going to be this year. Maybe 2012 will be the year & It would be a good year since it would mark my 5 year transplantiversary :)

So although we spend this time a year away from our family we always keep them in our thoughts and hearts. We miss out on the family parties we also miss out on the passing around of germs, colds, and the flu. haha!

My Testimony

It's hard to put into words how I feel toward my Heavenly Father and the Savior. I have so many reasons to be thankful for what I have gone through & endured. Because of my trials in life I have gained a strong testimony of Faith. I have always had Faith in the Lord and in Prayer. As I faced the decision to get a double lung transplant I had to rely on faith to make the choice.....By listening to the spirit, I was guided to Pittsburgh where my life was saved. I believe prayers are answered. I have always tried to follow the philosophy of this: If I do what the Lord expects of me, he will give me what I want & need. That has always worked for me. I Believe in MIRACLES..........My life on this earth is a miracle- I prayed on my knees for years to be healed from my lung disease. I knew that through a priesthood blessing (if it was God's will) I could be healed. So many times I thought he would heal me instantly...my faith was tested as I continued to get sick and no cure was in my future. I turned to prayer....I talked to my Heavenly Father, I cried to him and he heard me and he healed me by guiding me to Pittsburgh and guiding the surgeons hands. I learned humility, and thankfulness. I realized that we need others to lean on and we are supposed to strengthen each others testimonies. I learned that the hardest things we'll do are usually the greatest blessings in our life. I was able to experience a lot of things during surgery and I know I had comforting angels in my ICU room. THe Lord knows each of us by name and he will never leave our side. We need to remember to stay close to him and have Faith that he is watching over us. I know this for a fact! I know that following the gospel will bring us true happiness- the world will tell us otherwise, but I know I am truely happy & living the gospel has brought me that. Amen
