We put a lot of thought and tons of work into getting our horses ready for the state fair parade on Saturday morning. We had a couple ideas but ended up agreeing on Mari-go-round carousel horses. We got clever and ended up doing each horse for under $20 each! We didn't win any ribbons or awards but I am 100% sure that we were a crowd favorite. ALL the little kids LOVED it. We heard them yelling out which carousel horse was thier favorite one and lots of big smiles. . .which is why we go to all the trouble. Parades need FUN entries that make kids happy, I think we accomplished that :)

This how the 24 hours before the parade played out:
Friday:
Afternoon: brainstormed on how to make the carousel posts. Got cardboard tubing from local butcher shop(free). Craft Styrofoam balls for the top. Fabric for saddle blanket covers, paint for hooves and body . .. . all the extra fringe stuff.
Evening/Night: glued, spray painted carousel posts. Decorated bridles, saddle pads, tack. . . .got to bed early due to a very early morning!!
Saturday: 6 AM. . .yep, I got up that early!! Caught horses, loaded horses, drove into town and began putting together our vision. I rode Pixy who had NEVER been in a parade, or ridden in town for that matter. She is still kinda a baby at just 3.5 years old~ She was a dream! I am now completely convinced she was the perfect horse for me. All in all we had a great time, made some great memories and even though it may seem silly, this kind of fun things keep us young :)
