Sunday Sunshine: Believe In Yourself

I am going to do a post on believing in yourself for 2 reasons. . . . because if we don't then who will and also because it's something I forget to do sometimes. But I am not going to focus on the later reason :)

If we don't than who will?? I found a website that has steps to help us Believe in ourselves, so I will share that with you. . .maybe it works, maybe it doesn't :)

"It is the decisions you make, when you have no time to make them, that define who you are"

Believing in yourself is one of the first steps to success. If you don't have confidence in yourself, it will be difficult to succeed in anything.

STEP 1: Learn how to make decisions based on your experiences that you believe. If you don't have your own thinking, you can never be successful..
STEP 2: Set goals. When you set goals, you have control.
STEP 3: Recognize when you achieve your goals, so that you will build your confidence.
STEP 4: Consider reasons you fail. Everyone fails to achieve some goal, but if you learn from the failure, you will be more likely to succeed.
STEP 5: Use realistic expectations to judge your success. Do not expect to run a four minute mile, until you have trained and conditioned for running.
STEP 6: Listen to critics, but never let them convince you that you are less than you are. Some critics will tear you down to make themselves look bigger and better, while others will offer critical advice to help you make changes to improve yourself.
STEP 7: Give your time and energy to others. When you do this, you will get positive feed back and get respect from others. These are building blocks for self respect, which is essential to believing in yourself.
STEP 8: Believe in yourself, you will do your best.

*Get to know yourself before you believe in yourself. Know what works best for you.

So this is something that I never really struggled with when I was younger. . .but as I age, and life beats me up a little and I experience failures in my life, I have began to doubt myself more and more. I find myself sabotaging my positive thinking and optimistic outlook.

So my sunshine thought today is 'become your biggest fan'!!

My Testimony

It's hard to put into words how I feel toward my Heavenly Father and the Savior. I have so many reasons to be thankful for what I have gone through & endured. Because of my trials in life I have gained a strong testimony of Faith. I have always had Faith in the Lord and in Prayer. As I faced the decision to get a double lung transplant I had to rely on faith to make the choice.....By listening to the spirit, I was guided to Pittsburgh where my life was saved. I believe prayers are answered. I have always tried to follow the philosophy of this: If I do what the Lord expects of me, he will give me what I want & need. That has always worked for me. I Believe in MIRACLES..........My life on this earth is a miracle- I prayed on my knees for years to be healed from my lung disease. I knew that through a priesthood blessing (if it was God's will) I could be healed. So many times I thought he would heal me instantly...my faith was tested as I continued to get sick and no cure was in my future. I turned to prayer....I talked to my Heavenly Father, I cried to him and he heard me and he healed me by guiding me to Pittsburgh and guiding the surgeons hands. I learned humility, and thankfulness. I realized that we need others to lean on and we are supposed to strengthen each others testimonies. I learned that the hardest things we'll do are usually the greatest blessings in our life. I was able to experience a lot of things during surgery and I know I had comforting angels in my ICU room. THe Lord knows each of us by name and he will never leave our side. We need to remember to stay close to him and have Faith that he is watching over us. I know this for a fact! I know that following the gospel will bring us true happiness- the world will tell us otherwise, but I know I am truely happy & living the gospel has brought me that. Amen
